Approaching its 15th year in Phuket, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon is named after its main sponsor, the Laguna Phuket Resorts & Hotels company which owns and operates multiple high-end hotels, resorts, spas, and golf clubs. The race is also sponsored by the likes of Herbalife, Pepsi, Gatorade and Thai Airways.
Aussies traditionally dominate the event but competitors come from all over the world; representing Brazil, Germany, France and Great Britain among others. The race itself begins with a 1.8K swim, then a 55K bike ride and finally a 12K run through Phuket. This year’s course begins with a swim from the beach between the Dusit Laguna Resort and Laguna Beach Resort, followed by a bike ride out of the resort with some hilly, winding paths to a flat run through the Laguna Phuket golf course back to the Laguna Phuket resort.
Athletes are divided by sex, with a male and female winner from first to fifth place. First place winners receive $3,000 US and fifth place receives $1,000 US. In addition to the main event, there is a kid’s race and a corporate team relay.
Schedule:
Race day is December 6 at 7am
Registration opens April 1
Occurs annually, but its best to check the official site in case things change.

"I just returned on a 2 week tour of Thailand and Laos with your company. Had a great time and it was so well organized. I would like to get Mr. Aesopa's email so I can email him some pictures of my son and I. Mr. Aesopa is a wonderful guide and he really enhanced the trip by showing us some unusual places and food. We even tried dried insects and snake whisky. Thank you again and we can't wait to plan our next trip. Our friends want to go to with us to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in the near future."
