The Thailand Surf Series is spread over three weekends in three different locations around Phuket with one competition held in June, one in August and lastly in September. These competitions are governed by the rules of the International Surfing Association and are divided into four divisions: Short Board, Long Board, Kids and Women. The series begins with the “Monsoon Riders” competition on Kalim Beach just north of Patong. Next, the “King of the Jungle” competition is featured on Kamala Beach, which is farther north of Patong. The final competition, “Island Crown”, will be held over a weekend in September on Kata Beach located on the southwest coast of Phuket. Events appear to be open to asian and international surfers alike.
The schedule for the “Monsoon Riders” competition is up on the event’s website but details are still emerging so check out their site for updates. The Phuket Boardriders Club is a non-profit operating in Phuket that has sponsored several surf contests over the past 6 years.
Schedule:
June 12-14 Kalim Beach, Phuket
