New Thailand Surf Series
After reading fellow travel monk Carol's surfing piece I was instantly filled with excitement. Being the extreme sports fanatic that I am, my ears always perk up anytime a new sports event is announced. The new surf series in Thailand really caught my attention because I am a season chaser. When I travel I like to travel to where the sun is shining and the surf is good. This is not to say that I don't enjoy the finer things that winter has to offer, but when I think vacation, like many people, I think beach and surf.
Being a season chaser can be challenging because there is always something exciting going on during the summer time- no matter what country it happens to be summer in. The fact that Quiksilver is sponsoring the surf competition in Thailand is really going to help attract members of the surfing community, and it especially appeals to American travelers. People like me who are into extreme sports or season chasing are more likely to alter their plans if they can catch a competition like this one. I anticipate the series going really well, in large part due to the brand endorsement, which gives my season-chasing self a time frame of which part of the year I would like to visit Thailand.
