Details

Every year, on October 31st the country celebrates His Majesty King Father Norodom Sihanouk’s birthday throughout villages in Cambodia. There is a fireworks show in Phnom Penh, on the banks of the Tonle Sap River, in front of the Royal Palace. There are posters of the King prominently displayed throughout the country and most businesses close. This is the only day that the Royal Palace is open to the public. People celebrate with traditional Khmer dance and kids play classic Khmer games.

In Siem Reap, the town where you can visit the ruins of Angkor Wat, there is also a fireworks show. Locals take a picture with a newly decorated photograph of the King, who is officially called: His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk Varman. There is also traditional dance in Angkor Wat if the king is in town.

A Khmer Wedding
A Khmer Wedding
Khmer weddings all have a general list of ceremonies that are performed to join a man and woman into marriage— each one believed to be related to a mythical story. Like American weddings where many decisions are based on social status and financial situation, the length of a Khmer wedding is also dependent on these things. It can last from one morning to three days to an entire week.

Exotissimo Cambodia: Perfect Tours at the Best Possible Prices

I would like to thank you and your company very much for its excellent organisation of our visit to Siem Reap earlier this month. We greatly enjoyed the visit and found it most interesting. We were well looked after from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. In particular we would like to thank Mr Sophoam, our guide. He was extremely friendly, polite and knowledgeable about his country, its history and the temples we visited. I shall be pleased to recommend your company to others visiting Cambodia and beyond.
