Night Tourism

I just read an article about Cambodia considering opening the Angkor Wat temples during the night to help draw more tourists. If anybody has seen them during the day, do you think that they would still be really interesting to see during the night hours or do you think that during the day would still be the best time to see these famed temples?

I guess it would depend if its a full moon or not.. I could see it being pretty interesting to do once, but I think that most of the sites are better seen, which sort of makes doing it in the sunshine a little easier. Guess it depends if they put the effort into lighting it up, or if they just left it as is.. Interesting idea though.. The only thing that comes to mind is that I would hope it wouldn't become to crazy touristy... I dread the thought of a Starbucks, open till 2AM.

Your right, only the natural lighting of a full moon would be a good time to see this at night. I would hope that they would not set up a whole lighting system just so that tourists could see the temples at night. I think that it would mess with the whole atmosphere of the temples when your tripping on lighting chords.

It might be cool if they would do an annual light show type of thing instead.. Might make a cool show if it was a one time a year thing, rather than a new permanent set up.

I think that a special annual show would draw more tourists than a regular night time showing.

Oh boy.. Part of me thinks that sounds cool, the other part of me fears that if they start doing that on a regular basis that it wouldn't be long until there is a starbucks out front.
