Does anyone have any suggestions for live music venues in South east Asia? Looking for both local and popular music.

Reggae!!

It's everywhere in the islands, as well as in the north. There are a lot of really great Reggae festivals with local Reggae artists who are completely unknown, and so good. There are some really great festivals coming up in January if your into it!

I love Reggae! Especially unknown artists, they are usually my favorite. Thanks for the info, now I can check out some of these festivals.

I found some on Google, and I was ironically just talking to some friends in Koh Samui about some upcoming festivals:

They also mentioned an annual Reggae festival that happens every January in Pai, and another in Laos on the same month. I'm looking around to see if i can find some info on these as well

:)

Ok.. So apparently the reggae festival in Laos is called "woodstock" and it is near the annual reggae festival in Pai. Here are some links for the reggae festival in Pai, but I am unable to find anything on the internet about woodstock, still asking around.

Woodstock is supposed to be organized by the same group of people in Pai, but I don't see anything on the site about it and a search for "Woodstock" brings me to New York...

The most popular roots reggae group in Thailand right now is "Job 2 Do" and their webpage and list of dates are here:

Yes, I will be getting all of them up on the site!

Thanks for the idea Zipper,

I am sure that they guys at the reggae bar in Chiang Mai would know about all of this. Chiang Mai is close to Pai and it seems like those rasta circles overlap a lot. Only if i was in Chiang Mai, I would ask..

January is a bit away, I would think that they would get something up on the internet for the one in Laos as the date gets closer.
