I think the biggest problem is people not knowing their limits. I was just at a full moon party a couple months ago and it seems like most of the people there are younger and they don't really know their limits. They are pretty set up with all the volunteers and doctors on site to deal with the chaos, which there is no shortage of.
The red bull is the real recipe, seems to keep you up long after you should have passed out.. It really is a great party, but its the kind of thing that you either like, or don't, or glad you saw it once but really have no desire to do again. Along the lines of tips for the party:
1. Stay on Koh Panghan island if you really are there for the party. The boats going back and forth from the other islands are not very well organized, not really because of the people in charge, but more because of the people they are trying to organize. I think anyone would fail trying to manage that many wasted people.
2. If you want to stay on the island, arrive a few days early to get a decent bungalow. The few days before the party make for a nice build up before the actual night.
3. Pace yourself. Do you really want to end up one of those people who got so trashed that they wake up the following afternoon beat red after laying in the sun for 8 hours. Yes, it happens every party to lots.
4. Sun screen. You will be red long before you think your red.
5. Don't try to drink as much as the Irish, see rule #3.
