TravelMonks Internship Program

TravelMonks is always looking for good help.  We are currently accepting applications for our internship program, which we feel will help give valuable experience in the concepts of building social networks, online marketing, and most importantly..  The best places to travel!

We are looking for people with an interest in writing, editing, and blogging about South East Asia. Professional experience and/or travel to the locations we write about are beneficial but not required. We are looking for positive, open-minded people with a passion to write, learn, and facilitate discussions about seeing and experiencing South East Asia!  This internship position is work from home, fully remote, and is perfect for someone that has an interest in traveling to foreign cultures, learning about new places, and connecting with other people who share those same interests.  Those accepted will be helping us find the best places in South East Asia, help make others aware of them, and be published on the website with your own account and email@travelmonks.com.

Internships last three or six months and interns are responsible for:

  • Writing content for the geographical locations on the site. Interns can contribute content to all countries on TravelMonks.com, but will pick one to specialize in at the start of the internship.
  • Starting a blog on TravelMonks.com and update it as required.
  • Starting and contributing regularly to discussions in the TravelMonk’s discussion forum.
Perks:
  • Interns work remotely from wherever they want! As long as there is internet close by, the work can done!
  • Interns will gain professional experience with online and travel writing while building an online writing portfolio.
  • Writing will be published on the TravelMonks.com website.
  • For students, there is a possibility to gain college credit (this is contingent on the university and major).
  • Possibility of hire after six month internship.
To apply for an internship position please send a:
  • Brief cover letter in the body of your email explaining why you think you would be a good fit for TravelMonks.com.  Please include desired start date and preferred length of internship (three or six months).
  • Resume (if you have one) in the body of the email.
  • Writing sample no longer than 500 words (as Microsoft Word attachment).
  • Original writing sample for TravelMonks.com (as Microsoft Word attachment).  For this, please write about an event, tradition, or specific attraction for one of the locations we have on our site, which is currently not covered. For examples, please click on the "Recent Articles" link under "Top Interests" on the sidebar. Whether or not you are chosen for the internship, there is a chance your work will be published!
Aside from learning about travel, this is a great experience to work with a modern, web based company.  A great first experience to working as an editor, remote, and free to be where you like.  If interested, drop us an email and tell us a little bit about yourself.

"I was able to earn over half of the credits needed for my degree, while traveling the world, through an online university. I then transfered those credits into a traditional universities online program, and finished the needed credits from a beach in the tropics. I saw the world and earned my degree for far less money by thinking outside of the box. I urge everyone to explore non-traditional options toward education wherever possable."
