Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, The former security office 21, in "Democratic Kampuchea" was directed by Pol Pot (Salut Sor), in April 17, 1975. Office 21 was entitled S-21 and designed for detention, interrogation, inhumane torture, and prisoners where killed after they had fulfilled the confession documents.

S-21, or “Toul Sleng” is located in the center of Phnom Penh, Cambodia and is easily found by asking any tuk-tuk or motorcycle taxi driver on the street. Most drivers group this location in with a day tour that takes you around the city for all of those photo moments.

The Toul Sleng Genocide Museum Tour is one of the things in Phnom Penh that you absolutely must see while visiting Cambodia. We actually recommend that you visit here, the killing fields, and the museum at the very beginning of your trip as it really does give good perspective on what the people of this area have suffered through over the last 30 years.

The torture prison, as it is commonly referred to, is open daily from 9 AM until 5 PM daily and costs $2 for entrance into the compound, and $6 for a guided tour. You should expect to be here for about an hour, early afternoons being the best time to arrive. We recommend springing for the guided tour, as hearing the tails and getting a real explanation of everything you are looking at adds so much value to the visit.
